Learn To Climb
Do You want to book a Peak District Adventure? Not sure what you need? Too much choice? Let’s look at what we can offer.
With the Peak District being the centre of rock climbing in Britain, climbing makes a great choice. You can climb the fantastic gritstone edges of the Dark Peak such as Stanage Edge, Burbage North, Froggatt Edge or the wonderful Windgather Edge. Alternatively, There are the limestone cliffs of the White Peak such as Harborough Rocks.
Whatever venue there will be climbs of all standards to try where you can learn technical aspects of climbing such as rope work and belaying and where you can develop your own personal climbing skills under the safe, experienced instruction from Dave Matthews.
Now, something different and fun for kids is Rock scrambling and Weasling. Like an army assault course, where at a brisk pace you will negotiate challenges requiring you to climb, cave, abseil and wriggle. Our Scrambling trip has such challenges as the big climb, the wormhole, slippery slab and “the cheese grater” waiting for you.
Caving Days in the Peak District
Going underground is great fun. Making Caving days another choice. Aspire Adventure Activities are highly skilled and experienced at leading groups through Derbyshire caves.
Underneath the Limestone crags of the Dales lies a real Peak District Adventure. there is a vast labyrinth of caves and caverns for you to explore including the wonderful Giants Hole famous for its cave formations and Garlands Pot, or the adventurous Carlswark Cavern with its water-filled passages, optional squeezes and its ‘beehive’ stalagmites. Perhaps you may want something less challenging?
So, we recommend visiting the disused Leadmines at Matlock Bath. Here you can walk through passageways handmade centuries ago by miners extracting lead. It’s an adventurer and a mini history lesson all in one.
Hang in There, Literally
We cannot forget Abseiling. Derbyshire has some epic places to do Abseiling. Such as the awesome challenge of the Millers Dale Viaduct abseil near Buxton or the Dukes Quarry Abseil near Matlock. Both challenges see you faced with 9o feet of adrenalin flowing experience as you step off the edge and descend down, and down to the world below.
This course proves very popular with Stag and Hen Parties and Team Building sessions.
Wander Across the Peaks, at your own pace.
Lastly, for those who like walking, you can adjust the complexity of your walk. If it’s excitement and competition you seek, take a map and compass, use your own initiative with our Orienteering days at various sites in the Peak District.
From the wooded surroundings of the Black Rocks Course to the challenging Burbage Valley where you navigate across moorlands, up peaks and around cliffs, finding hidden markers. All great fun!
Or want to do map reading, but at a more sedate pace, then there are many fine walks for you in the Peak District with the famous Kinder peak a must for any walker with its fine views and awesome kinder downfall or the accessible peak of Mam Tor for you to bag.
