Choose The Peak District for Adventure Activities.

So why choose the Peak District for adventure activities. Well, it’s pretty central and easy to get to by road and rail from all corners of the UK and it has a pretty good airport near by. It has so many accommodation types to choose from be it YHA, cottage, camping barn or tent.

So what about the activities? Famous for its climbing with its famous gritstone edges, the Peak District is the foremost location to try rock climbing as it has climbs for everybody to have a go at.  Many of the cliffs so easy to access. You can climb on the wonderful Windgather Edge or Stanage Edge in the morning then go for a leisurely walk or visit Chatsworth House in the afternoon.

Caving
If Caving activities are more your thing, The Peak District has plenty Caves and Leadmines to explore ranging from the superb ‘Giants Hole’ where you wind downwards in water sculptured passages to arrive at the fabulous basecamp chamber or to ever wet Carlswark Cavern a real adventure cave.

Or if you want something different and not too daunting, there are old Lead mines where you can explore the places people used to work centuries ago, extracting lead.

Great Places for Peak District Adventure Weekends

The fantastic  Millers Dale Viaduct abseils – one of the most well-known adventure challenge where you have to lower yourself over archways with a river flowing below you-adrenaline just flows!

It also has superb walks in the White or Dark Peak. An ascent of Kinder Scout is a must do, or perhaps walk “The Dragons Back”, the spectacular peak of Chrome Hill.  If you do not want to walk far but still fancy a challenge we have excellent Orienteering courses around the Peak District in forests or on moorlands where you can try mapwork at a pace to suit you.  This is a really great outdoor activity for kids too.

What makes the Peak District such a good choice for Adventure Activities is the variety of scenery.

Imagine climbing on Stanage Edge and looking out at the heather in bloom, it’s just fantastic. Or standing on top of Windgather Rocks, looking out at Jodrell Bank Telescope in the distance.

Or walking down the road from a mine exploration into the seaside feel of Matlock Bath, it’s just unique. The peaks are full of exciting, awe-inspiring places. Oops, I forgot to mention, it has fabulous tea shops, everywhere!
